Jaycee's Senior Session

Self-care is a bit of a buzzword these days. It seems everywhere we turn, we hear about how we need to put ourselves first, and to preserve our feelings and hearts. This is one lesson that Jaycee, this beautiful senior, has learned in the last few years: the put herself first. “I have really learned that I cannot hold on to the things that have hurt me in the past. It is something to live by; to move on and find something better. ‘Forget what hurt you, but never forget what it taught you’ is my favorite quote”. I love her strength and kindness, and really enjoyed getting together to capture her senior year. Jaycee will graduate from Lake Travis High School in 2019, and she also enjoys her part-time job at Hill Country Indoor. She enjoys working with children, and also has run track in the past. When it comes to people who are influential in her life, Jaycee cites her aunt and her mom, who are both strong women who have fought for what they want in life!

When I planned out her session, I chose the Spicewood area near Austin, and a local vineyard, Stone House Vineyard. The vineyard is seriously so elegant and stunning, and pairs the best architecture with beautiful landscaping; it is the perfect spot for an unique senior shoot. Jaycee says her personal style would best be described as “casual, cute and fun”, and that her everyday style usually includes sneakers, t-shirt, and shorts. She looks up to celebrities with a cool-casual style like Selena Gomez, and really loves shopping at Buckle. As far as her future, college is definitely in her sights, and she plans to pursue nursing, with minors in sociology and psychology. Jaycee is passionate about finding justice for rape and assault victims, and helping end human trafficking in the United States. Eventually, she plans to become a counselor or a therapist. I know her huge heart and passion about her goals in life will take her very far! Congratulations, sweet girl!

Joni | Senior Session in Katy, Texas

Do all the other things, the ambitious things—travel, get rich, get famous, innovate, lead,
fall in love, make and lose fortunes...but as you do, to the extent that you can, err
in the direction of kindness. -George Saunders

As far as success is concerned, seems like this beautiful girl is well on her way. She has one of the sweetest spirits ever, and was so awesome to work with! Meet Joni, a graduate from Foster High School, and now settled into her college home at Texas A&M. When she was in high school, she stayed extremely busy with bible studies, her youth group, and the drill team. She also enjoys spending time with her friends, and watching Netflix. She recently read the book "13 Reasons Why", and said it was life changing for her, because it taught her to not take the lives of others for granted. "I would say my best character traits are patience, wisdom and independence", she adds, "In twenty years, I hope people remember me as someone who really made her life count. I always think of my mom when I think about who I want to become; she is an incredibly strong individual."

There's nothing more classic than jeans and a white tee! It just goes to show that you don't have to overthink a trendy, flashy senior wardrobe, something solid colors and flattering fits can take you just as far. In fact, every outfit she brought was beautiful and feminine, and it was so fun to style all of them with the right setting: Quintana beach! Because Joni says her favorite place to be is the ocean, I knew it would be perfect. Becoming a journalist is something this sweet girl hopes to do, and I have faith that she will totally achieve her goal, because she always puts kindness first. Thanks Joni, for allowing me to be your senior photographer!

Sarah | Senior Photography in Fulshear, Texas

Every high schooler looks forward to those magical words: you're done! In fact, I thought they were monumental enough to include in this fun and exciting senior session in Fulshear. I love shooting in Fulshear and in the La Centerra areas, because they capture a small town feel, as well as an upscale downtown feel, which gives my clients a big variety in their backdrops and poses. Sarah is finishing up her time at Foster High School and she's very involved in band there. "One of my greatest accomplishments so far has been becoming a Drum Major", she explained, adding that band is something she is passionate about and loves. When I asked her what things she couldn't live without, she cited her phone and Netflix as her must-haves! Some of her other favorites include Disneyworld, and country music (especially Sam Hunt and Carrie Underwood).

Sarah is a very smart young lady, and she dreams of being a teacher and making a difference in the lives of children. She plans to make Texas Tech her college home, and would love to join a sorority when she arrives. "In five years, I envision myself having a teaching job, and having the time of my life", she says confidently. When we began planning her senior shoot, I asked her what she wanted, and she definitely wanted to include a 'small town' feeling. Sarah also wanted to show off her signature style, which usually includes boots, rompers, and plenty of breezy summer dresses. She loves to shop at places like American Eagle, and I think these playful and classy images really capture that spirit. I even made sure to include a bunch of balloons, because finishing senior year is surely something to celebrate! Congratulations, Sarah!

Danielle | Texas Senior Photography

Meet Danielle: a stunning, lovely high school graduate, who I loved from the moment I met her. Danielle is now a junior at Texas A&M, where she is absolutely thriving. She is incredibly empathetic and caring and describes herself as determined, honest, and empathetic. "I really hope my classmates remember me as someone who was caring and helpful", she explains, "I recently read A Child Called It by Dave Pelzer, and it inspired me to spend my time helping others." She is currently part of the Hullabaloo Band and the Kappa Delta Sorority at her new college home, as well as the 12th Man Student Foundation. If you've not heard of it, the 12th Man Foundation has a long legacy of tradition at Texas A&M, and exists to help deserving athletes achieve their full potential.

This beautiful, confident young lady overcame her fair share of struggles to become who she is today, including being a victim of cyberbullying. "I continued to be strong throughout this trial, and did not let it get me down", she adds, "I also really look up to my mom. She has instilled in me to be strong even in the toughest of times. She is the strongest person I know, and I strive to be like her." In her free time, Danielle loves to volunteer her time at the local police department, and watching her favorite shows on Netflix. As far as personal style goes, she's got plenty, so we gave her lots of variety in her outfits and locations. I loved her lacey black dress, and of course, we captured her love for Texas A&M with a classic collegiate tee!
